Removing Candle Wax from a Fibreglass Deck

July 11th 2002

Question from Janice in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia -----

Dear Shell,

I had a citronella candle on the table outside on our fiberglass deck. It broke and the wax went all over the deck. I can't get it out. I tried power washing it but it didn't work. It's a two-year-old deck and it looks awful with that stain on it. How can I get it out?

Thank you!

Dear Janice,

For best results, boil water in a kettle and pour it carefully over the area at the same time scrubbing with a stiff bristle brush. Take care not to burn yourself with the hot water! Repeat the process until all the wax has been removed. Tip: Never allow a candle to stand alone on a table. Always and have a pie pan or dish under the candle.

Itís Just That Easy.
