Tool Maintenance - November 3rd 2005
As the growing season draws to a close it's important to dedicate some time now to maintain your garden tools. This will extend their life and save you having to leave them at the sharpener's in the spring when you really need them.
- Use a wire brush to remove all mud and debris from your tools before storing them for the season. The mud will attract moisture and cause them to rust.
- Once cleaned and sharpened, apply a lubricant such as WD-40 or even cooking oil to joints, hinges and metal surfaces to prevent corrosion.
