Tips For Installing New Wood Baseboards - October 9th 2014
Q: We have just finished repainting the walls in our home and would like to install new wood baseboards. Do you have some helpful hints for us?
A: Before heading out to the building supply store to purchase mouldings, you need to do some measuring. List all the wall lengths as you want to try to buy lengths long enough to minimize having joints along the walls.
The wall areas are easy and you can simplify the installation into the corners by using the coping method. With this method, one piece of moulding is applied with the butt end into the corner and the matching piece is cut with a coping saw to the profile of the first piece. You can also use two 45-degree cuts to achieve the 90-degree corner using a power combination chop saw.
