Sticky Kitchen Floor

Question from Teresa -----

Dear Shell,

Lately my kitchen floors seem to be sticky even after I mop and wax it. I think the floors are vinyl because the floor is all one piece. It doesn't matter how often I mop, the floor is still sticky afterwards. I have been using Mr. Clean and Mop and Glo Wax Cleaner to clean the floor. What can I use to get rid of the stickiness? My kitchen floor has lost its shine as well. Is there anything that I could do to get back the shine?

Dear Teresa,

To remove all the sticky residual on your floor, scrub it using a mixture of 1 cup of TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate) to 2 Ĺ gallons (10 litres) of hot water. Please note: Purchase non-phosphate TSP.

Spread on the floor using a sponge and let it sit about 5 Ė 10 minutes and then scrub with a floor scrubbing brush. Rinse well with clean water and allow to dry for 1 hour.

Apply Johnsonís Future Floor wax or a similar type of vinyl floor refinish. Use a lambís wool pad to apply the wax finish.

Itís Just That Easy!
