Stained Ceiling from a Leak in the Roof - February 25th 2003

Question from George -----

Dear Shell,

A recent roof leak stained our ceiling and ran across the valance. This has left a musty smell in the room. I have been blasting the wet area with fans. Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Dear George,

Any insulation in the attic cavity that got wet during the roof leak should be removed, dried and replaced. You might find water on top of the plastic vapour barrier that will require mopping up. Allow the attic cavity to dry out before replacing the insulation. When the ceiling drywall has dried, repaint it with Shell Busey’s ceiling paint manufactured by CGC Synko (it does not require a primer). or check with your local Cloverdale or Northern Paint Dealer for their problem (stain) solving ceiling paint.

It’s Just That Easy!
