Should I replace Poly B plumbing?

Q. I have recently purchased a home with "Poly B" plumbing. Can I replace all the hot water connectors with copper ones or do I have to replace all the plumbing with copper?  We have had no problems as of yet but I have heard there have been problems leaks.

A. Your question implies your Polybutylene (Poly B) is delivering your domestic hot and cold water through out the home. If this is the case there has been little to no concern to my office other than your type of request.

Failure of (Poly-B) piping used in some homes have resulted in leaking pipes, causing water damage and has raised concerns among homeowners; however, these were related to improper installation procedures rather than the materials.
