Question from Garnet in Winnipeg, Manitoba -----

Hi Shell,

I remember you telling someone on your radio program about putting insulation inside a plastic kitchen bag, make two or three slits on the bag and placing it up between the joists against the outside wall above the cement floor to keep the cold out. Do the slits go towards the outside wall or to the top, facing the underside of the floor? Is this the way I heard you explain doing it?

Dear Garnet:

You are correct – face the slits to the outside rimmer joists or joist facia and caulk around the entire pillow with acoustical caulking.
