I Would Like a Warm Floor in the Basement

Dear Shell,

I would like to finish my basement and would like to have a warm floor in our recreation/TV/kids play room. I like the idea of radiant heat! Is there a product that one can install on top of an existing concrete floor (either hot water/electric heat)?

Thank you for taking the time!

Sincerely,

Hank

Hi Hank,

First, acid wash your floor with muriatic acid, rinse it well and allow to dry.

Apply Aqua Seal concrete sealer to stop any migrating moisture from below grade.

Then, apply Delta FL floor membrane available at Timbrmart or Rona Stores.

Apply 5/8" T&G plywood over the Delta FL.

Apply Maepi Lath over plywood (available at ceramic tile dealers).

Apply Nu-Heat 1-800-778-9276 (www.nuheat.com) (electric radiant heating system) over Maepi Lath.

Apply your ceramic tile floor.

Good luck with your project.

Shell
