Getting Rid Of Nicotine Stains On The Ceiling - March 7th 2017
Q) We just bought a twelve year old condo and the ceilings need help. The previous owners were smokers so the living and dining room ceilings are coated with nicotine, the hallway and kitchen not quite as bad and the bedrooms and bathrooms just a little yellow. The main area has been painted before. I understand that if I just paint over the nicotine, it will come back.
We want to do this right, so what do I use to seal the ceilings and walls to make sure the nicotine stays covered and doesn't bleed through the new paint?
A) First, prepare the surface by cleaning using a sponge and my Shell Busey Home Cleaning Formula. Rinse well with clear water.
When dry apply Cloverdale Paint's "Pro Fresh" Ceiling Paint. Using a nylon or polyester brush, cut in to the wall. Then complete the rest of the ceiling with a "Foam Slit Roller" to finish the project off.
