Sump pit - water seems to be coming from several inches below the weeping tile. The snow has just started melting and frost is still in the ground. Why isn't the water coming from the weeping tile. Went to Home Depot and they did not have an answer for me. Concern is that pump is coming on about every seven minutes. Is this good for the pump? and is it normal for the water to come up into the pit this way?
Water will come up from the bottom of a sump basin because of hydraulic pressure created during peak water periods i.e. snow melt and heavy rain periods. Your pump is designed to come on and off over short periods of time.
