Saving Energy and Money Upgrading your Home
January 29, 2007
Improving your home's efficiency not only makes your house more comfortable but it also saves you money at the same time. You not only save on your utility bills but you may be eligible for grants that get you money back on upgrades to improve the efficiency of your home. The federal government has recently announced the ecoENERGY Retrofit, a program that will offer Canadians financial incentives and information so they can retrofit their homes to make them more energy efficient.
Under ecoENERGY Retrofit – Homes, the government expects to provide incentives to some 140 000 homeowners for home improvements that will reduce their energy use and costs as well as make their homes more comfortable.
EcoENERGY Retrofit – Homes is expected to be launched in April, 2007. More details on this initiative will be released in the coming weeks and we will be sure to keep you updated.
Energuide Update
This is a similar program to the EnerGuide for Houses program that was discontinued last spring. Homeowners who have had a pre-retrofit evaluation performed prior to May 13, 2006 can have a post-retrofit evaluation and still qualify for a grant until March 31, 2007.
It is suggested that you complete your upgrades well in advance of this date (at the very latest by February 28, 2007) in order to allow enough time for the energy advisor to complete your follow-up evaluation and submit your grant application. To book your follow-up evaluation, contact your energy advisor or contact our office @ 1-888-266-8806 to find out more information.
