The Catch of the Day

The Catch of the Day
A fisherman I must be,
To help me feed my family.
For you I will catch a fish,
If this is what you wish.
I will do the best I can,
But I am just a simple man.
I will fish rain or sun,
I will fish because it’s fun.
Around here somewhere he must lurk,
For him hard I must work.
Each day across the sand,
To the ocean with rod in hand.
Fishing in my heart is dear,
The rules and laws are quite clear,
I must have a license and hook,
I must do it by the book.
When I catch him I will prey,
I have done it the right way,
I will clean and dress him nice,
Please no dickering on the price.
If it is what’s meant to be,
A fish in your hands you now see.
So remember when you take him home,
He gave his life for this poem
